
Michael Daniel Young, MD is a radiation oncologist at CAMC Radiation Oncology Services.
He received his Bachelor of Science in exercise physiology from Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg, Idaho. He continued as an adjunct professor for 2 ½ years teaching anatomy and physiology as well as pathophysiology. He went on to receive his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine in Reno, Nevada. Following graduation from medical school, he completed his internship year at Ocala Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Florida and his residency in radiation oncology at UNC-Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where he served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Young has a strong passion for patient safety. He is dedicated to balancing patients’ quality of life with the potential side effects of cancer treatment. He has authored several papers regarding the safety and efficacy of treatment for pediatrics and adult patients as well as several book chapters regarding pediatric radiation oncology (Gunderson & Tepper’s Clinical Radiation Oncology and Perez & Brady’s Principles and Practice of Radiation Oncology).
Although Dr. Young treats all types of cancer, he particularly enjoys treating pediatrics, lymphoma, and benign diseases (i.e., arthritis, AVMs, keloids, etc.).
Outside of clinic, Dr. Young enjoys spending time with his wife, four children, dog and cat. He is also a Lord of the Rings enthusiast and enjoys playing board games, hiking, and swimming.
